My issue with the game is just how rough the difficulty curve is depending on your exploratory actions. Things like that just don't happen organically in any other game. For example, one of my friends got an NPC merchant to fall in love with them while we were shopping for gear, and when we attacked their crooked group, that merchant actually turned on their comrades to help us. We actually got into some encounters early on that displayed exactly what the game was all about beautifully: even the combat tells a story. The systems of the combat are actually straightforward, there's just quite a bit that can happen outside of those basic systems you need to find out for yourself through exploration in advance. I played a good 10-15 hours of this game with friends in co-op (they lost interest so I haven't gone back in), and it wasn't so much the systems of the game being portrayed poorly. Lots of stuff to play that isn't too overwhelming. Disco Elysium appeals to a lot of people who don't play cRPGs at all, while not cutting corners for fans of the genre. The Pillars games aren't based on an existing tabletop system and don't have much that you wouldn't find in, say, KOTOR or Dragon Age: Origins. Baldur's Gate 3 looks like it's essentially Divinity with some features borrowed from D&D 5E, a pretty straightforward ruleset. Otherwise most systems are pretty straightforward. Nothing a quick read of a BG new player start guide won't fix but it's not entirely intuitive.ДЄs for newer games, Pathfinder: Kingmaker assumes a bit of knowledge of the Pathfinder game system, and they balanced the Normal difficulty around that, but you can play on easy or story mode and figure it out as you go. Some of the D&D-based games like Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 expect at last basic familiarity with AD&D. Low budget games where most of the discussion is people talking about builds and strategies. Knights of the Chalice, Age of Decadence, Underrail, etc. Very few modern ones are like this, unless we're talking about fairly obscure games targeted specifically at hardcore cRPG fans. Other than that, great stuff! Yay for sticking through things! I havenвЂ™t done much crafting at all either. The only thing thatвЂ™s been annoying at the moment is micromanaging my inventory to NOT have an abundance of stuff, and keep most of them in a backpack. DonвЂ™t know why kind yet but IвЂ™m following the scourge one and itвЂ™s a fun build as well) Loshe: Summoner (god this one is fun, I canвЂ™t wait for the summon level to get to 10)ДЇane: Wizard (I stuck to his natural default class. Red Prince: Fighter (he will be changed to a Ranger build in Act 2, as I want a finesse character) Main is Custom Character: Death Knight build (I always loved been the wrecking ball tank guy in R Now IвЂ™m in the process of doing a quest that will eventually lead to the other collars getting removed. Then my next breakthrough of discovering what the purgering wand was actually capable of doing when I removed my source collar. I think the second I acquired those skillbooks, for some reason a lot of things clicked with me after that.

IвЂ™m not out of the island of Fort Joy yet, but IвЂ™ve been to the Hollow Marches and other places away from the tutorial area thus far.
